As of March 25th, 2020 we are open as a designated essential transportation business pursuant to CA Executive Order: N-33-20. We are closely following and adhering to guidelines set by the CDC and Local Health Officials. During the Shelter in Place Order, we have limited our hours of operation to the following: Monday - Saturday 8:00 am to 12:00pm.

We know that you are renting a truck from us for an event, project, outing or chore. We want to be the easiest part of that day. Renters are to return vehicles with the same fuel level as at the onset of the rental. The original fuel level will be noted on the Rental Agreement.
On a trucks return, fuel receipts MUST be provided for proof of purchase.

Doherty’s accepts and welcomes customers preferring to use their debit card with VISA or MASTERCARD logo inscribed.
Debit Cards MUST be in the renter’s name.
A minimum of $300 is required for a car rental along with two (2) Proof of Current Residency documents with information that matches their drivers license.

This “hold” amount will be released within 3-5 business days, depending on your financial institution. You may check with your CC institution regarding how long it will take to release the “hold” on your funds.
When renting, ALL CUSTOMERS are informed of the following: “Your credit card/debit card is being authorized for $XX. Available funds on your credit card or bank account will be reduced by this amount. Actual charges to your credit card/debit card will be determined when you return the vehicle.

NO, credit cards WILL NOT cover a renter for a Doherty Truck Rental. This is because of the trucks weight and size restrictions. A customer should check with their individual credit card company prior to renting.
NO, Third Party Coverage is required for ALL vehicle/truck rentals up to minimum State of California limits. Customers have the choice of using their own verifiable and transferable liability coverage.
If a customer does not have coverage they MUST purchase additional coverage offered through Doherty’s Rental.
In most cases it DOES NOT. It is important to check with your carrier prior to a rental. It is vital to note that even if your insurer does offer coverage, you MUST REIMBURSE Doherty’s Rental for the FULL amount of damage when you return the rental and deal with your insurance then contact your Insurance Provider for personal reimbursement.
YES, you are responsible for ALL damage including vandalism regardless of fault if you decline coverage.

YES, Doherty’s Rental offers 7, 12 and 15 Passenger Vans. We specialize in designing a rental package for your special event be it a Church group traveling to Mexico or a group of friends needing a larger vehicle for an outing.
Doherty’s Rentals is able to pick up customers from the El Cerrito Del Norte BART Station. We do not pick up customers from other locations.
